I am going to build a REALLY tall building….like the Empire State Building. Lots of floors, windows, offices, shops…it’s gonna be GREAT. BUT, I am going to build it on questionable concrete, with shaky beams etc. It might look pretty at first, until the first big wind or storm or other problem. At that moment, if it doesn’t crash down, it will certainly begin to crumble.
It happens in politics too. I am going to align and associate myself with domestic terrorists, mobsters, and racists but be SHOCKED that people aren’t impressed with my “experience”. My opponent is someone who served his country and paid for that service in the worst way and I will stay silent when others, on my behalf, say that he is ‘milking’ that service. (Nevermind that the person who spoke those words continues to ‘milk’ 4 of the worst years in recent memory).
I will go on to refer to babies and punishments and campaign to block laws that would require doctors to aid children that are born alive from botched abortions, and then try, with vague language, to appeal to the pro-life movement.
It’s all down to FOUNDATION. It IS possible to change direction. It is not easy and takes a deep down understanding of how we’ve screwed up and a willingness to do WHATEVER we have to do to fix things. Too bad there aren’t more people willing to make those fixes….maybe then they could ‘grow up’ into a good option for the highest office in the land. :-) I don’t have anyone in mind though!!
