“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
– Norman Thomas, Socialist Party Presidential Candidate in 1940, 1944 and 1948, co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Sounds like he knew what he was talking about. Maybe we weren’t that dumb in 1948 but we are plenty dumb now when all the people who don’t even really remember the USSR are excited at the prospect of socialism. Well, BO has made his intentions clear and I am taking him at his word!
Per BO in 2001:
“I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples so that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order [and] as long as I could pay for it I would be OK. But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.” He called it one of the “tragedies” of the civil rights movement and when on to say, “a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change and in some ways we still suffer from that.”
Well, of course the BO camp came out and said that isn’t what he “meant”. For someone who is well spoken and “clean and articulate” like Biden said during the primaries, he never seems to say what he means or be around people that he agrees with and his wife suffers the same illness….remember….it was recently the first time she was proud of America. We are electing a President who hates this country. We should be PROUD. Remember the words of none other than Thomas Jefferson…
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. — Thomas Jefferson
